A fashion week is an event of the fashion industry, lasting about a week, in which designers, brands or "houses" exhibit their latest collections in fashion shows to buyers and media. These events influence the trend of current and future seasons.
The most important fashion weeks take place in the fashion capitals of the world, with the "Big Four" receiving most of the press are New York, London, Milan and Paris.
The concept of fashion week began in Paris, when marketers would hire women to wear fashion items in public places, from circuits to salons.
These parades (parade is "défilé in French") gradually began to become their social events. (Indeed, in French, the ski slopes are still known today as "défilés de mode" - literally "fashion shows".

Although there are many remarkable fashion weeks around the world, only four are known as the "Big Four": Paris, Milan, London and New York. Paris began to hold fashion exhibitions in 1945 Milan Fashion Week Fashion Week Milan Fashion Week was founded by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in 1958, Paris Fashion Week was further organized in 1973 with the French Fashion Federation, and London Fashion Week was founded by the British Fashion Council in 1984.14] Although these key organizations still organize major events, there are also independent events and producers in all cities.
There are mainly two types of shows: women's and men's clothing. There are also special shows for each resort. For example, most haute couture shows take place in Paris, while most bridal shows take place in New York.
Paris haute couture takes place in Paris in January and July. (According to the rules established by the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, high fashion can only be presented in Paris).

More and more designers have presented interseasonal collections between the traditional Fall/Winter and Spring / Summer seasons. These collections are usually more commercial than the collections of the main season and help shorten the customer's expectations for new season clothes. The interseasonal collections are Resort / Cruise (before spring / summer) and Pre-Fall (before autumn / winter). There is no fixed calendar for these shows in any of the major fashion capitals, but generally occur three months after the main season shows. Some designers exhibit their collections.
